Sphynx grooming is unique among cat breeds. Without fur, their skin requires regular maintenance to stay healthy. The good news? Most Sphynx enjoy the attention.
Weekly Bathing
Bathe your Sphynx every 1-2 weeks with a gentle cat shampoo. Their skin produces oils that build up without fur to absorb them. Warm water and a calm, reassuring tone make bath time easier.
Start bathing as a kitten so they become comfortable with the routine. Most adult Sphynx tolerate or even enjoy their baths.
Daily Skin Wiping
Between baths, wipe your Sphynx daily with a damp, soft cloth. Focus on skin folds, under the arms, and around the tail base where oil accumulates most.
Ear Cleaning
Sphynx ears accumulate wax rapidly. Clean ears weekly with vet-approved solution and cotton balls. Their large ears are beautiful but high-maintenance.

Trim nails every 2 weeks. Brush teeth 2-3 times weekly. Sphynx are generally tolerant of grooming routines.
Sun Protection
Apply pet-safe sunscreen to exposed skin before sun exposure. Light-colored Sphynx are most at risk. Limit direct sun during peak hours.
Cold Weather Care
Provide cat sweaters, heated beds, and warm blankets in cold weather. Sphynx lose body heat quickly and need help staying warm.
