Scottish Fold grooming has one unique requirement — their folded ears need special attention. Beyond that, their care is straightforward with regular brushing and routine maintenance.
Ear Fold Cleaning
This is the most critical grooming task. Check ears every 2 weeks for wax buildup, debris, or signs of infection (redness, odor). Clean with a vet-approved ear solution applied to a cotton ball — gently wipe the visible parts of the ear.
Never push cotton swabs into the ear canal. If the ears seem particularly dirty or your cat is scratching excessively, consult your vet.
Coat Care
Short-haired Folds: Brush weekly with a soft bristle brush or rubber grooming tool.
Long-haired Folds: Brush 2-3 times weekly to prevent tangles, especially around the belly and behind the ears.
Nail & Dental Care
Trim nails every 2-3 weeks. Brush teeth 2-3 times weekly with cat-specific toothpaste. Regular dental care prevents periodontal disease.

Bathing
Bathe only when necessary — most Scottish Folds keep themselves clean. Use a gentle cat shampoo and ensure thorough rinsing. Dry ears carefully after bathing.
