PK Deficiency
Pyruvate kinase (PK) deficiency is a genetic disorder that causes chronic anemia. A genetic test is available — responsible breeders test both parents before breeding.
Retinal Atrophy
Progressive retinal atrophy (PRA) causes gradual vision loss. It typically begins with night vision impairment. Genetic testing helps identify carriers.
Dental Disease
Abyssinians are prone to periodontal disease. Start dental care early — brush teeth regularly and schedule professional cleanings.
